This app runs on a browser based Google base map. If you’re interested in learning how to plan routes, Furkot may be a good choice. Other programs tried to persuade me to leave Basecamp, but they did not. A route planning app that can be used to create routes and solve the program’s quirks is what we need. If I wanted to plan additional routes, I wouldn’t need my laptop and instead use my iPad. There is no need to install Apple Car Play (or perhaps an Andriod version but I haven’t used it yet). The only app that can do this is an app that can plan routes and fix the program’s quirks. The Explore app is available for Android and Apple devices, but it has no smartphone support. A discussion forum on the Explore app suggests that the app has limited device support and that there are issues with the app itself. According to the new website, an HTTP Status 404 – /en-CA/ error is still displayed. BaseCamp development has been discontinued, according to a recent announcement. There are no new versions available at this time. There is still a lot of support for BaseCamp. Another way is to use a program like BasecampX. One way is to use a Windows emulator like Bootcamp or Parallels. There is no official Garmin Basecamp for Mac, but there are a few ways to get it working on a Mac. You can sign in with your desktop, phone, or tablet web browser, or you can download the free apps for Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android. The best apps are Garmin BaseCamp, QLandkarte GT, GPXSee, Viking GPS data editor and analyzer, and GPx.īasecamp 3 can be accessed from any location. The QMapShack is both free and open source, so it’s an excellent alternative. According to the release notes, the issue with not displaying the most recent BlueChart maps has been resolved in this update. If Garmin doesn’t understand what I’m doing, I’d recommend doing a custom install and removing the ticking mapinstall. As you can see, Garmin’s packaging is extremely muddled. Garmin should avoid upgrading applications to older versions. You can’t trust the developers of Garmin if they don’t seem to know how to tell the difference between a phone and a bike. The problem will be resolved by the next release (version 3.0.2). A really, really bad user interface, worse than most other web base maps. There is no excuse for the shambles in Garmin’s cartography products they have a lot of resources. Garmin has displayed a blatant lack of commitment to its Mac users. My experience is similar to that of using Windows XP in OS X I spent 10 hours attempting to get the same favorites on three Garmins. It bounces once in the dock but does not open once it has been opened. It is not surprising that the developers chose the current version of the app for 64 bit users over the previous versions. If I were to use it in my Windows device, it would be rated 2 stars. It’s still very early days, but I haven’t had any trouble connecting to my Garmin GPS unit yet. A lot of destinations are not visible on the map, so you must zoom in to figure out where you should go. To express your thoughts, use the old-fashioned comment MacUpdate Comment Policy. It takes a long time for the app to render on Catalina, and the interface is terrible. Garmin topographic maps are used, as are digital elevation models (DEMs) generated by the company. You can use Garmin BaseCamp to route waypoints, track locations, and take Garmin routes between your Mac and your Garmin device in 3D. If you need to use Basecamp on a Mac, you can do so by downloading the software and connecting your device. Despite these limitations, Garmin Basecamp is still a useful tool for those who own Garmin GPS devices. If you want to use all of the features of the software, you may need to purchase a subscription. Finally, Garmin Basecamp is not always free. If you have an older Garmin device, you may need to use a different software application to access Basecamp. Second, Garmin Basecamp is not compatible with all Garmin GPS devices. If you are using a Mac, you may need to use a third-party software application to access all of the features of Garmin Basecamp. First, Garmin Basecamp is designed for use with Windows computers. However, there are a few things to keep in mind. Once your device is connected, you should be able to launch Garmin Basecamp and start using it. Once you have downloaded and installed the software, you will need to connect your Garmin GPS device to your computer using a USB cable. You can download the software from the Garmin website. In order to use Garmin Basecamp on a Mac, you need to have the Mac software installed on your computer. The short answer is yes, but there are a few things you need to know first. If you own a Garmin GPS device, you may be wondering if you can use Garmin Basecamp on a Mac computer. Here is an entire list of the 55 prophecies that you will receive in alphabetical order, with * being put next to the ones with trophies: Name So there is useful information that will benefit me as a guitarist, in both the tab and the standard music notation. And could easily see where the quarter notes became eighth notes and then sixteenth notes. And I would instantly recognize the key by the key signature. But the standard notation will tell me if the notes are going up or down and I could almost sing them. I can NOT translate the notes on the standard notation to my guitar - so in the absence of tab I would not be able to play them by sight. I can sight read tab - so I would know how to translate what is written on the tab to the guitar fretboard and play the indicated notes (even though I might not be able to tell you what the notes are). I actually prefer to see music for guitar written as tab - with standard notation below. Both may contain information that the guitarist will find valuable. If you had to do just one, I would write tab for a guitarist, as it is far more likely that the guitarist will be able to read tab and you can more easily convey the techniques unique to stringed instruments (hammer on, pull off, etc.).īut since you are well versed in both Tab and Standard Notation, I really think the best thing you can do for all guitarist, is write them both. With tab you really have to sit down and either play it or try to figure it out like a long division math problem. In standard notation you can see if the melody is ascending or descending just by looking at the notes - without even thinking about it - something that is impossible with tab. But one of the most useful things that standard notation can do that tabs absolutely cannot, is allow you to easily visualize the melody. Standard notation has a key signature that will identify the key. Standard notation is better for indicating quarter notes vs. On the other hand, there are things that standard music notation can do that tabs cannot. Things such as hammer on's, bends, slides, pull-offs and palm muting are more easily indicated on tab than on standard music notation. Other things you can do with tab - relate to things you can do with a guitar that you cannot do on a piano. In fact, many guitar players I know personally who can read both, tend to prefer tab. I don't even have to know what that note is called to be able to play it! Many guitar teachers are using tab with their students and it is becoming more and more popular everyday because of it's simplicity and other factors that give it an advantage. With tab, I can easily look at a 2 on the third string (third line) and I immediately know to put my finger behind the 2nd fret on the third string and play that note. So a guitarist does not have to know anything about reading standard music notation to read tab. It is very intuitive as it is based on a visual representation of the strings and numeric indicators for which fret. It has the advantage of a very short learning curve and does not require extensive study to learn. Tablature is a common and increasingly popular form of music notation for stringed fretted instruments. But each can do certain things better than the other. Standard music notation and Tablature (Tab) can both tell a guitarist what notes to play. In Hinduism, it is considered as the contemporary representation of Garuda, the sacred bird of Vishnu. Known as elang bondol in Indonesia, the brahminy kite is the official mascot of Jakarta. In some incidents where brahminy kites mobbed steppe eagles ( Aquila rapax), they were attacked and injured or killed.Ī number of ectoparasitic bird lice in the genera Kurodaia, Colpocephalum, and Degeeriella have been reported. They may mob larger raptors such as the Aquila eagles. They roost communally on large and isolated trees and as many as 600 have been seen at one location. When fishing over water, they may sometimes land in the water, but manage to swim and take off without much trouble. Young birds may indulge in play behaviour, dropping leaves and attempting to catch them in the air. A rare instance of a bird feeding on honey at the hive of Apis florea has been recorded. Brahminy kites have even been recorded taking advantage of Irrawaddy dolphins herding fish to the surface, in the Mekong River. They may also indulge in kleptoparasitism and attempt to steal prey from other birds. It is primarily a scavenger, feeding mainly on dead fish and crabs, especially in wetlands and marshland, but occasionally hunts live prey such as hares and bats. The incubation period is about 26 to 27 days. Both parents take part in nest building and feeding, but likely only the female incubates. A clutch of two dull-white or bluish-white oval eggs measuring 52 x 41 mm is laid. In some rare instances, they have been seen to nest on the ground under trees. They show considerable site fidelity nesting in the same area year after year. The nests are constructed of small branches and sticks with a bowl inside and lined with leaves, and are located in various trees, often mangroves. In southern and eastern Australia, it is August to October, and April to June in the north and west. The breeding season in South Asia is from December to April. The brahminy kite is now placed with the whistling kite in the genus Haliastur that was erected by the English naturalist Prideaux John Selby in 1840. Neither Brisson nor Buffon included a scientific name but in 1783 the Dutch naturalist Pieter Boddaert coined the binomial name Falco indus in his catalogue of the Planches Enluminées. It was also illustrated in a hand-coloured plate engraved by François-Nicolas Martinet in the Planches Enluminées D'Histoire Naturelle which was produced under the supervision of Edme-Louis Daubenton to accompany Buffon's text. The brahminy kite was included by the French polymath Georges-Louis Leclerc, Comte de Buffon in his Histoire Naturelle des Oiseaux. He used the French name L'aigle de Pondichery. In 1760, French zoologist Mathurin Jacques Brisson described and illustrated the Brahminy kite in the first volume of his Oiseaux based on a specimen collected in Pondicherry, India. With that said.Įpisode 4031 "Sesame Street Sings Karaoke" - Such a fun season opener: the whole street stays up late, gets together in the Arbor, and have a karaoke party it was also a nice way to slip in some classic songs.Įpisode 4034 "Bert's Birthday" - Ernie and Bert in a street story. Seasons 34-38 are the only seasons I've seen all episodes of, so they're really the only ones I can give full, objective opinions of. Also, the joke about the treasure and the squirel's "booty". Best moments: Bert reading a book called "Fifty Shades of Oatmeal" and proclaiming, " This is steamy stuff!". If they wrote Elmo like they did in this episode and "The Good Sport" than he would most definitely be one of the best characters on the show. Bert especially has some great lines and I think Elmo works extremely well as a side character/sidekick. 4425- Lights, Camera, Bert!- Once again, you just can't go wrong with Ernie and Bert. Nice to see Gina and Big Bird get some cameos. The song he sings is catchy, although like some other episodes it gets overused. 4407- Still Life With Cookie- Cookie is as funny as ever in this one and Alan is also great in this one. The ending was heartwarming and overall the story was a great tribute to Jerry and the Count. 4411- The Count Tribute- A wonderful episode that was very funny and once again carried by Alan and Chris, with some great moments from Elmo and Telly as well as appearances from almost the entire cast, human or Muppet. My favorite part was when Chris annoyed Alan by freaking out like a child over the fact that their was going to be a balloon at the parade. I'd say once again Alan and Chris are one of the highlights, they have great chemistry and can be really funny. S43, 4324- Trashgiving Day- Episodes about grouch culture are always fun. S43, 4302- "The Good Sport"- One of the few times that Elmo is actually a three dimensional character, it was really fun to see him get so angry and than super competitive and cocky. 4307-Brandeis Looks For a Job- Brandeis is a great character, John Tartaglia did a good job with him and i'm still hoping he might come back one day. Chips- The humor was great in this episode and having Chris and Alan in it was an absolutely perfect choice. The episode is fun, well paced and not only is it rare for Bert and Ernie to be the main focus of a street scene but once again we get lots of Susan, as well as Maria and Luis doing what they do best, fixing things and arguing with Oscar. 4176- The Flood- The episode that premiered immediately after was this one. This episode really feels a lot like an episode that might've aired in the 80s or 90s. The characters all fit in perfectly and act like themselves, it's funny, it's not too long or too short, and it's one of the few times in recent years that the human characters are the main focus and act like real people, rather than playing second fiddle to the Muppets. 4275- Super Maria- It was great that we got a street story about the older characters, especially great that Susan actually had lines in it. All the songs were great, especially "Shirt Shout" and like I said before, I love it when they're's lots of people on the street because it makes it feel less deserted and more real. 4220- Music Magic- What can I say? The episode was just super fun and just the right run time. Another thing I enjoyed was all the songs on it, "Jumping in Puddles", "It's Raining Cookies", "Singing in the Shower", all super catchy songs. 4229- "Puddle Jumping"- Many of you might not think much of this episode, but the main thing I liked is that it had cameos with a bunch of different characters all throughout the street like Oscar, Rosita, Baby Bear, Cookie Monster, it really made the street feel populated and more like a real street. 4190- "Wild Nature Survivor Guy"- Jimmy Fallon's character was pretty funny and the parody of shows like "Man vs Wild" was an effective way to teach about nature. Overall a good street story but as an anniversary special it's very disappointing. It was great that they managed to squeeze in all of the cast members. Freddy Flapman was well cast as Lin Manuel Miranda, and he got to show case his strengths as a performer unlike many guest stars who the writers often waste their potential. Season 40, Episode 4187 "Big Bird considers moving"- A nice little story that showcases Big Bird's personality well and also represents his relationship with characters like Maria, Chris and Gordon. In addition to new lighting, lasers, paint, skates, a new kitchen and menu at the snack bar and a brand new black light party room, Thunderbird has also become the new home for Dallas’ Assassination City Roller Derby League. He’s started to revamp the look and feel of Thunderbird, and people are noticing. Terry has been managing since December 2013 and he definitely takes his job seriously. These days, Nell still owns Thunderbird, but she has handed over management to Terry Monjure, a transplant from New Orleans. She also opened a seasonal miniature golf park next door that lasted a few years in the 1970s. Nell was swayed to open another rink and Thunderbird II has been in that same spot ever since, on the street they named Thunderbird Lane. Neighborhoods were just starting to be built this far north of Dallas and streets like Spring Creek were still being planned. At that time, there was nothing in Plano for entertainment. Nell was actually approached by the Mayor of Plano and convinced to open a second Thunderbird Roller Rink in Plano in 1972. The couple opened it because their daughter Patti was a competitive skater and she needed a place to practice.
